YIDZ: The Young International Defenders of Zion(Colonial Power/Settlers)Zion is an area just to the north of Ztumsia inhabited by one of the lost tribes of Israel who were re-discovered in the 1950's along with the Ethiopian Jews. Unfortunately they got completely lost and ended up thousands of miles away from the rest of the tribes which accounts for their isolation. There was no airlift in the 80's-90's to bring them home as was the case with their Ethiopian cousins but the Israelis supplied them with arms with which to defend themselves. Unfortunately most of this equipment was dated to the 40's and 50's and was surplus to requirements and this leaves them at a serious disadvantage against their Soviet backed neighbours. To offset this material disadvantage large numbers of highly trained "volunteers", most of them on leave from the Israeli Army, have joined the ranks of the Zion army, these are the "International Defenders" who give the army its name. The government of Zion live in the hope that the volunters' high level of expertise will be enough to make up for their total lack of modern equipment and help deter their violent neighbours from making agressive moves against the rich fruit and arable fields of Zion. The Zion government is highly dependent on Israel, and hence the USA, for its survival and the YIDZ often fight to defend the interests of Petramco International, a US based multinational corporation with extensive interests in Ztumsia/Setumsia.
